Lyla has come leaps and bounds behavior-wise since she was born (almost 5 months ago!!). The one thing we are still struggling a bit with is sleep. She's always been pretty decent at sleeping during the night (she usually wakes a couple times and I can nurse her back to sleep within 15 minutes....knock on wood!). Day time naps usually consist of two or three half hour to one and a half hour snoozes. But what I must admit is that we were generously given a beautiful brand new crib in which Lyla has yet to sleep a wink. At night she sleeps in our bed with us and her day time naps are done so in my arms. She could be passed out cold and within seconds of leaving my arms she startles herself awake. It can be frustrating. I get stuck under her for hours a day. I sit and think of all the things I could be getting done if she would just let me put her down. But secretly I can't help but revel in the fact that she wants me so close to her all the time. That she can rest so peacefully with the assurance that when she opens her eyes she will see my face. I know it won't always be that way, so I'm taking it slow. I'll put her down when she's ready. Those dirty dishes in the sink can wait.
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend!

oh so lovely!!
Hey Jayme,
I'm in the same boat with my little girl sleep wise and Edie is 8 months and somehow I don't think she'll be having her day sleeps in her cot any time soon...
But its nice to know that someone else is in the same boat:)

oh lady. do I know what you're going through! It definitely gets better, so hang in there. My 11 month old has now decided she will nap happily on the couch but not in the crib. And she still either sleeps at night on the couch with me or on the bed with me and daddy and wakes up at least once a night for a quick milk-snack.
Now that she's bigger and basically hates her crib, we're already talking about putting a toddler bed or twin mattress on the floor in her room and trying to slowly get her into that. Some babies just don't dig the crib.
One thing that worked for us to help with naps (even though they will resist it at first) is to swaddle them newborn-style just for the nap. She may feel the pressure and comfort by being swaddled and let you slide her onto the couch or some other nearby resting spot. Just a thought...
Nothing better than holding your sleeping baby snug in your arms. Lovely photos! You are such a good mommy...I can tell even through blog land. :)
@lynxymama
Thank you!
@Lili
Always nice to hear someone is experiencing a similar situation. I figure--I'd rather have her sleep in my arms than have her take no nap at all and be grumpy!
@Erika
Welllll that is her other big sleep issue--she's still being swaddled at night! She breaks out of it a lot and wakes herself up. I've tried laying her down swaddled during the day and it does help....but usually it's unpredictable when she will fall asleep so I usually don't get a chance to swaddle her first.
Glad to hear it gets easier! : )
